Can IMEI be used to track your mobile device?

Numerous websites claim they can track stolen devices using their IMEI numbers, however, the truth is that IMEI tracking is exclusive to law enforcement and telecommunications authorities. Exercise caution when using unknown mobile apps and websites. Never remit money to any services that claim to be able to locate your phone using its IMEI.
